The Green Bay Packers are coming off the bye in hopes of getting a win.  It has been nearly a month since they have been in the win column.  They take on Sean Payton and the reeling Denver Broncos.  In the next few weeks, the Packers look to start a little run with favorable games.

The Broncos are 1-4 and have not played up to Sean Payton’s expectations.  Though they have played poorly, they do have some talent.

Here are the keys to a win in Denver.

Green Bay Packers Must Establish the Run

At this point, with the bye week this past week, I am sure we are all sick of hearing about the run.  It isn’t some secret; the Broncos suck at stopping the run.  They are 32nd in the league in defending the run.

The Packers need to come in and play tough physical football.  There is no reason to get fancy; try to do reverses and intricate counters.  They need to run it down the Broncos throat.  If Aaron Jones is a full go, he’ll be in line for a huge day.  Getting Aaron Jones off the tackles and out to space will be the recipe for a good day.

Run the ball, and everything else will open up.

Win the Time of Possession

This goes hand in hand with running the ball but also relies on the team not making mistakes.  The Packers need to stay in favorable down and distances and not get stuck in the 3rd and long.

Playing in Denver and the high altitude, they can’t afford to go three and out.  The Packers are one of the worst teams in the league in time of possession.  If they cannot establish drives, the defense will wear down quickly.

Establishing drives is also significant in Joran Love getting into a rhythm.  As of late, the offense has looked discombobulated.  With the full offense back and healthy, there should be no excuses.

Play With Attitude

This last key may sound a little cliché.  The team, in the previous few weeks, has been flat.  No one showed emotion when Jordan Love stiff-armed Max Crosby on the run.  The Green Bay Packers must come out fired up with their “piss hot” (famous Matt Lafleur quote).

The youth needs to learn to stack small successes and build momentum.  We have seen flashes of what this team is capable of.

Jaire mentioned that the defense has to compensate for the offense as they grow through the youth pains.

Here are Rasul Douglas’s comments on that quote.  “No.  Because they’re not young.  And if they are, they gotta grow up.  It ain’t no such thing as being young.  You had, what, five games?  That’s enough.”

Douglas has been the best player on the team and one of the few with a pissed-off attitude.  He has come a long way from being a practice squad guy in Arizona for the Packers.  It is time for Douglas to lead this team and get the attitude right.
