Green Bay Packers Biggest Pregame Storylines vs. Los Angeles Rams

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers (2-5) look to end their four-game skid against the Los Angeles Rams (3-5). The Packers still own the lowest-scoring team in the first-half title, a problem costing the team.

The Packers have ten games left and a chance to change the year’s narrative. Can the team rally together and turn it around, or are the wheels going to fall off? We will see, but it starts with this game.

Here’s a look at a few of the biggest pregame storylines for the Packers week nine matchup against the Rams.

Can The Green Bay Packers Offense Start Fast?

The Packers offense is an ugly mess. At some point, though, they have to luck into a touchdown in the first half. Once this team can get the ball moving and at a tempo, it doesn’t look too bad. The problem is that it takes an entire half to do so.

The Rams are a middle-of-the-pack team in the first half of defense, and just gave up 33 points in the first half to the Dallas Cowboys. They have an excellent defensive line led by all-pro Aaron Donald, but they have a mediocre secondary. Hopefully, Matt Lafluer tries to get Jordan Love in rhythm early.

Matthew Stafford Day To Day With Thumb Injury

Matthew Stafford suffered a thumb injury to the Cowboys in week eight. He is day-to-day, but it sounds like they are leaning toward giving him rest. The Rams have a bye week next week, and the additional time could be enough to get Stafford back to full health.

The Los Angeles Rams would start backup quarterback Brett Rypien. Rypien was recently with the Denver Broncos from 2020 to 2022. With Rypien getting the nod, the assumption would be that the Rams go with a run-heavy game plan.

If the Packers get carved up by Brett Rypien in Lambeau Field, we, as fans, may be in for some dark times.

Packers Secondary vs. Rams Wide Receivers

With the departure of Rasul Douglas, the Packers secondary gets younger and more inexperienced. Eric Stokes is on the IR and Jarie is battling a back injury. This young group consisting of cornerbacks Carrington Valentine and Corey Ballentine has a tough matchup.

Wide receiver Puka Nacua has emerged as a star for the Rams. Cooper Kupp is back from injury and is one of the best in the league when healthy. PFF has Puka as the 9th graded receiver in the league and he does the majority of his damage underneath and the intermediate level. With the Joe Barry don’t get beat deep philosophy, he’s in line for a huge day.

Regardless who starts at quarterback for the Rams Sunday, these two receivers are going to be a handful.
