The Green Bay Packers have just announced that they have placed all-pro offensive tackle David Bakhtiari on the injured reserve. He had injured his ACL on December 31st 2020 and had missed the entire following year. With him being placed on injured reserve, he will be out a minimum of four weeks.
Bakhtiari has rested most practices in the offseason and was good to go for the Bears game. After the Bears game, he was questionable on the injury list, which was noted later due to knee swelling. Hopefully he can get healthy and able to play later in the season.
Next Man Up
The Packers seventh round pick from 2022, Rasheed Walker has filled the role as the left tackle. Walker has started the past two weeks, and only three other tackles had a high pass blocking efficiency rating, according to PFF. The six foot six-inch Tackle will have a big role to fill, stepping in as the starter.
In the NFL, when someone goes down, it’s next man up.
Green Bay Packers Offense
What does this mean for the offense? They are going to have to find a way to run the ball. Walker has showed ability to do well pass blocking but hasn’t been as strong in the run game. With no Elgton Jenkins either, the Packers are going to have to get creative. The run game is important for this offense and the play action.
In the passing offense, Lafluer has done a great job scheming guys open. Jordan Love is going to have to keep getting the ball out quick or make plays with his legs. While it isn’t good losing your all-pro left tackle, you can see what you have in the youth on the line.
