Good, Bad and Ugly From Green Bay Packers Loss to the Buccaneers

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 34-20. The loss was another ugly defensive performance.

Here is the good, the bad, and the ugly from the loss.

The Good: The Green Bay Packers Offensive Rookies Are Studs

The rookies and Jordan Love should not be expected to play perfectly to win a game, and that is what it has been. Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and Tucker Kraft played a significant part in today’s game. Those three players combined for 206 of the offense’s 251 receiving yards.

If the young guys take a big second-year jump, Jordan Love and the offense should be a high-power offense.

The Bad: Third Down Defense

The Packers defense allowed the Buccaneers to convert seven of their 11 third downs. The Buccaneers also picked up their lone 4th down try to seal the game. The Packers third-down woes continued, and they gave up chunk play after chunk play. Mayfield never had much pressure and could complete passes to wide-open guys.

The Ugly: Joe Barry

One week after giving up a career game to Tommy DeVito, Baker Mayfield has a career game. The Saints sacked DeVito seven times today, while the Packers couldn’t get one against them. Mayfield went 22/28 for 381 yards and four touchdowns while having a perfect passer rating. Not too many catches were even contested.

The bend don’t break can be thrown out the door. The defense got abused play after play with little to no adjustments. Campbell was tasked with defending Chris Godwin on the day, a matchup that was exploited throughout the game.

The defense could only get a stop when the front four got a sack. The defense struggled to pass off routes while sitting in the zone, and there was too much confusion this late in the season.

I would be shocked if Matt LaFleur watched the film and kept Joe Barry for another week.
