With roughly a quarter of the season behind us.  Let’s look at where the Green Bay Packers stack up against the rest of the NFL.

Green Bay Packers Offense

The last two games have set the Packers offense back in terms of overall production.  Currently, the Packers are Ranked 27th in total offense(1,123 total yards).  This puts the Packers between the  Panthers (26th) and Titans (28th) in Total offense.  The biggest reason the Packers rank so low offensively is their 30th-ranked rushing attack(74.5 Rushing YPG).  Only the Bengals and the Raiders rank lower.

In years past, the Packers have always seemed to have a top-ten offensive line.  According to PFF, the Packers offensive line grades are 24th in the league in run blocking.  Injuries have played a significant role in the offensive line play, but hopefully, the Packers can get this sorted out.

The Packers are Ranked 11th in PPG (25.0), just below the Chiefs and Broncos.  Overall, PFF grades the Packers out at 19th, below Jacksonville and Chicago.  There is a lot of room for improvement on the offensive side of the ball.  Getting something going in the run game should help.  Luckily, the Raiders are ranked 26th against the run and are an excellent opponent to bounce back against.

Green Bay Packers Defense

It has been a common theme with the Packers since Gutekunst, Lafluer, and Barry took over that the run defense hasn’t always looked great.  Currently, the Packers rank 30th in the league, allowing 155.3 yards a game on the ground.  PFF also grades the Packers out at 21st against the run, just below the Steelers and Bears.

The Packers are also Ranked 20th in points allowed(24.0).  That is one spot below their NFC North rival Vikings, who the Packers have yet to play.  Overall, PFF has the Packers graded out as the 15th-best defense in the league.

The highest grade for the Packers defensively is the secondary/coverage.  The Packers are ranked 9th behind the Jets and Jaguars.  The Packers are still in the top 10 in turnover differential (+1).  They are one spot below the Colts and Bengals.

Jordan Love

Usually, I would wrap up with special teams, but since the season is a quarter of the way done, I thought it would be fun to see how Jordan Love stacks up against other QBs.  There are two categories Jordan Love is excelling at.  Love is tied for 3rd in touchdown passes(8).  He is tied with Patrick Mahomes, last year’s NFL MVP. He also has two rushing touchdowns.  That is tied for 3rd most among quarterbacks with Josh Allen.

Now for the bad.  Love is ranked 34th in completion percentage behind Joe Burrow and Anthony Richardson.  Love currently has an 88 QB rating.  That is 19th in the league behind Trevor Lawrence and Andy Dalton, who has only played two games.  PFF has Love graded as the 23rd-best QB in football.  That puts Love in the middle of Joshua Dobbs and Sam Howell.

It is still early in the season, and the Packers have much room to improve.  After the Packers disappointing loss to the Lions, even the media called the coaching into question.  I expect the Packers players and coaches to put together a good performance against the Raiders and start to trend in the right direction.
