With another disappointing defeat behind us. It’s time to look at how the Green Bay Packers stack up against the rest of the NFL.

Green Bay Packers Offense

The Packers are ranked 26th in Average Total Yards per Game (289.8 YPG). The Panthers(294.7 YPG) and Patriots(294.3 YPG) are ranked ahead of Green Bay. One of the main reasons why they rank so low is the run game. The Packers are ranked 24th in Average Rushing Yards per Game (90.8 YPG) and yards per Attempt (3.8 YPA).

Early in the year, it was difficult to tell if the backs or the O-line were to blame for their struggles with the run game. Now, with six games of football played and plenty of film. The Offensive Line is not the strength we thought it was. PFF has Green Bay’s O-line graded out 25th in run blocking. The one bright spot currently is Zach Tom. Tom grades out as the 9th best tackle in the NFL.

Love is currently 23rd in Passing Yards per Game (199.0 PYPG) and 24th in Yards per attempt (6.6 YPA). Love is still only completing 57.5 percent of his passes, ranked dead last in the NFL. To put a positive twist on that stat, CJ Stroud only completes 59.6 percent of his passes. Most sports media have praised CJ for his accuracy and crushing Love for his inaccuracy. The Two are only separated by two percentage points.

Despite being unable to get anything going in the first half of almost every game. The Packers are ranked 12th in the league in 3rd down conversion percentage (41.3% conversation rate).  They are also ranked 9th in the league on 4th down conversations (60%). Currently, the Packers are the number one ranked offense in the second half. While that is an impressive stat, it doesn’t mean much when you’re not winning football games.

Green Bay Packers Defense

Defensively, the Packers rank 16th in Total yards allowed per game (338.0 YPG). This ranks one spot below the Packers NFC rival, the Minnesota Vikings. Most of the yards the Packers are giving up are still against the run—Green Bay’s defense ranks 30th in rushing yards allowed per game (143.7). Injuries have played a large part in creating that ugly number, but still, you would like to see the Packers play better against the run.

Against the pass, the Packers are doing well. Currently ranked 8th in the NFL, only allowing 194.3 passing yards per game. That is better than the Bills, Jets, and 49ers. The Packers are also allowing 22 points per game. That ranks 21st in the league. One spot below the Vikings (21.7 PPG) and two spots below the Lions (21.6 PPG).

Situationally, the Packers have been good on third down. The Packers are ranked 9th in the NFL on 3rd down. They are only allowing conversions 35.7 percent of the time. Fourth down is a different story. The Packers are ranked dead last in the NFL. They have faced 11 fourth-down attempts and stopped only three. That is a 72.7 percent opponent success rate.

Another concerning stat is the turnover differential. The Packers are tied for last in the NFL with five turnovers. The Titans, Raiders, Rams, Patriots, and Panthers also have five turnovers. It’s been a long time since the Packers have been in the “red” regarding the turnover battle. The Packers are -2. Which is tied with the Titans, Colts, Rams, and Eagles.

Special Teams

Carlson missed his first field goal of the season against the Broncos. It was a costly miss, too, since the Green Bay Packers only lost by 2. However, Carlson is 13th in field goal percentage.

Daniel Whelan has climbed up the ladder a bit regarding net punt yards. He is currently ranked 20th. He is averaging 41.7 net yards per attempt.

In the return game, the Packers haven’t moved a lot. They are still in the top ten in punt and kickoff return averages. Nixon is second-best in the NFL with 250 total return yards. The only player better is New Orleans speedster Rashid Shaheed (265 yards).
