The Green Bay Packers may have their future quarterback. The jury is still out, but Jordan Love has ten games in the books for 2023. It seems that all the talking heads on Fox and ESPN have made up their mind about Jordan Love. When you look at the total numbers for Love, they may not look great, but not many quarterbacks this year have amazing numbers. I thought it would be interesting to compare Love to some of the other QB’s in the NFL and see how he stacks up.

Even though Justin Fields has only played seven games, he has been productive. Thanks to a pair of four-touchdown games, Fields is on pace with Love for touchdowns.
Jalen Hurts ( 10 drops)
Love |
QB |
Hurts |
18 |
Total Touchdowns |
24 |
10 INT / 7 Fumbles |
Interception/Fumble Total |
9 INT / 5 Fumbles |

The only thing that stands out here is the total touchdowns. Hurts has been great with his legs his whole career. However, if not for Hurts Legs this season, he would have 15 touchdowns and nine picks. Football’s best offensive line also plays a big part in Hurts success. Hurts is a borderline MVP candidate. Love is just a “backup,” according to Colin Cowherd.
Trevor Lawrence (14 drops)
Love |
QB |
The Prince |
18 |
Total Touchdowns |
13 |
10 INT / 7 Fumbles |
Interception/Fumble Total |
6 INT / 8 Fumbles |

O-Line PFF grade
Pass/Run |
Pass (17th)/Run(30th) |
22nd (68.4 Rating) |
Receivers PFF grade |
25th (67.2 Rating) |
Lawrence has gotten a lot of slack this season due to how he played up to and during the playoffs last year. The bare stats from the season, though, don’t look better than Love’s.
Derek Carr (11 drops)
Love |
QB |
Carr |
18 |
Total Touchdowns |
10 |
10 INT / 7 Fumbles |
Interception/Fumble Total |
4 INT / 4 Fumbles |
2518 |
Total Yards |
2264 |
Pass (Tie 3rd)/Run(25th) |
O-Line PFF grade
Pass/Run |
Pass (24th)/Run(17th) |
22nd (68.4 Rating) |
Receivers PFF grade |
16th (69.9 Rating) |
Before coming to the Saints, Carr seemed destined to have the same career path as Phillip Rivers. Put up big numbers every season and struggle to have post-season success. Don’t get it twisted. Derek Carr has been one of the best QB’s in football for a while, and his stats aren’t as good as Jordan Love’s this year.
Kenny Pickett (11 drops)
Love |
QB |
Pickett |
18 |
Total Touchdowns |
7 |
10 INT / 7 Fumbles |
Interception/Fumble Total |
4 INT / 1 Fumbles |
2518 |
Total Yards |
1768 |
Pass (Tie 3rd)/Run(25th) |
O-Line PFF grade
Pass/Run |
Pass (31st)/Run(20th) |
22nd (68.4 Rating) |
Receivers PFF grade |
29th (63.3 Rating) |
Kenny Pickett has had one of the worst offensive lines in Football most of the season. Meanwhile, PFF ranks the Packers’ pass protection third. It hasn’t looked that good throughout the season. Give me the guy on the left.
Jared Goff (20 drops)
Love |
QB |
Goff |
18 |
Total Touchdowns |
18 |
10 INT / 7 Fumbles |
Interception/Fumble Total |
8 INT / 2 Fumbles |
2518 |
Total Yards |
2756 |
Pass (Tie 3rd)/Run(25th) |
O-Line PFF grade
Pass/Run |
Pass (2nd) / Run(2nd) |
22nd (68.4 Rating) |
Receivers PFF grade |
6th (77.7 Rating) |
Jared Goff is the engine of one of the best offensive teams in football. When you look at the numbers, though, they look eerily similar. The guy on the left had one of the worst offensive lines in football. The guy on the right has the second-best defense in football.
Patrick Mahomes (19 drops)
Love |
QB |
Mahomes |
18 |
Total Touchdowns |
19 |
10 INT / 7 Fumbles |
Interception/Fumble Total |
9 INT / 3 Fumbles |
2518 |
Total Yards |
2917 |
Pass (Tie 3rd)/Run(25th) |
O-Line PFF grade
Pass/Run |
Pass (14th) / Run(22nd) |
22nd (68.4 Rating) |
Receivers PFF grade |
15th (70.5 Rating) |
The gold standard for Quarterbacks. Everyone is looking for the next Mahomes. Jordan Love isn’t at the caliber of Patrick Mahomes. With time and improvement, you never know. However, this season, the stats don’t lie. He has about the same statistical year as Love.
Jordan Love (18 drops)
Conclusion
I wrote this article to try to find a way to show that while clearly some of the QB’s on this list are better than Jordan Love right now. The stats, however, look very similar. Winning is the big thing in the NFL that sets the good quarterbacks from the average. Winning is a great eraser. If you win, the media and fans will forgive some mistakes you make in your first year starting.
Suppose the Green Bay Packers were 6-4 instead of 4-6; Jordan Love’s stats might not matter as much. People would probably think more highly of him. Football is a team sport, and when this team can learn to win around Love. The media might start giving Love a little more leeway to make a few mistakes. Then look and see that Love’s stats, even with the mistakes, aren’t fair off from some of the best in the league.
