The Green Bay Packers had one of their best drafts in several years in 2023. Can they follow it up with another outstanding class? Let’s take a look at some players to watch heading into the NFL combine.

Isaiah Davis’s Background

Davis was a three-star recruit out of Pebble Hills High School. After high school, Davis joined the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. Davis was a four-year starter for the Jackrabbits and even saw significant playing time as a freshman. He recorded a 4.52 forty time in college, which isn’t dazzling from a running back prospect. In college, he was high volume back. Recording 250 attempts as a Junior and 236 as a Senior.

A few of Isaiah’s weaknesses are getting skinny through traffic, poor hands, and inability to hit home run-type plays.

How Isaiah Davis Would Fit With the Green Bay Packers

There is a chance that Green Bay resigns A.J. Dillon, and the need for a back like Davis won’t be necessary. However, if Green Bay decides to move on from Dillon, the Packers will need to replace what Dillon brings to the table. While Davis isn’t the physical specimen that Dillon is, he brings some similar qualities. Rarely does one defender bring him down. He has good straight-line speed and sets up blocking well. Similar to Dillon, he has a thick lower body and keeps his feet moving on contact.

He has a knack for finishing runs forward and runs with a physical mentality. He also has ten 2/8th-inch hands, which helps him secure the football and avoid fumbles. In his college career, he averaged only one fumble per season. The Packers have been known to value players who value the football and avoid turnovers.

One final positive thought for Davis is the fact that PFF has never given him an offensive grade lower than 86.9 on the season. He is an incredible, consistent player who would be a great addition to any NFL roster.
