The Green Bay Packers had one of their best drafts in several years in 2023. Can they follow it up with another outstanding class? Let’s take a look at some players to watch heading into the NFL combine.

Khristian Boyd’s Background
Boyd is originally from Kansas City and played high school football at Blue Springs High. At Blue Springs, Boyd was an All-State player. Boyd helped lead the Wildcats to back-to-back second-place finishes in the state championship. Out of high school, Boyd wasn’t a highly rated recruit coming out of the Missouri area.
Boyd redshirted as a freshman at UNI in 2018 and became a large part of the defense for the Panthers for the next four seasons. Another interesting fact about Boyd is he has a major in movement and exercise science with a minor in strength and conditioning, sports administration, and coaching. These are all essential things to know when trying to become an NFL player.

How Khristian Boyd Would Fit With the Green Bay Packers
You can never have too many defensive linemen. Currently, the Green Bay Packers are doing well on the defensive interior. It never hurts to bring in some competition, though. With the switch to a Jeff Hafley run defense, grabbing another traditional tackle with elite size might not be a bad idea. Boyd is listed at 317 pounds and is six feet four inches tall.
Kenny Clark is six foot three inches tall and weighs 313 pounds. Boyd has a built lower body and displays impressive power at the point of attack. He can be difficult to move off his spot and often commands double teams to nullify him, which is essential in a 4-3.
Some of the most promising things that fit the Packer’s mold are that Boyd plays with a high motor and a good pad level. He also has a knack for freeing other rushers and taking good angles to the ball carrier. The Packers should keep their eye on Boyd in the late draft rounds. Boyd was snubbed from the 2024 NFL draft combine after performing well at the Shrine Bowl and earning PFN’s Defensive Player of the Week. This means many teams must rely on a pro day or other team-requested workouts to get a good look at Boyd. Hopefully, the Packers are one of those teams.
