There is a reason corner is considered a premium position. Every year, the receivers keep getting bigger and faster. Take this NFL, where Xavier Worthy broke the 40-yard dash record, running it in 4.21 seconds. The only way defenses will stay competitive is by finding the best player to lock down these wide receivers. The Packers are in a position to draft players for the secondary this upcoming draft. Here is a list of the corners that, in my opinion, had some of the best combines at corner. Hopefully, the Green Bay Packers will give these guys an extra look before April 25th.

Five Cornerbacks that Should be on the Green Bay Packers List

#5 ) Elijah Jones

It’s not hard to believe that the Packers might consider a player who played for their new Defensive Coordinator, Jeff Hafley. Hafley wouldn’t have to do much convincing because Jones tested well. He recorded the cornerback group’s best vertical jump and fourth-best broad jump. He clearly has the athletic ability to be a good player. The first line of Jones’ combine overview reads. “Scheme-dependent cornerback with excellent length and above-average ball skills.” If he is scheme-dependent, what team would better suit him than the scheme he just played in?

Combine Results :

  • 40-Yard Dash – 4.44 Seconds
  • 10-Yard Split – 1.54 Seconds
  • Vertical – 42.50″ (Best in CB group)
  • Broad Jump – 42.5″
  • Three Cone – DNP
  • 20-Yard Shuttle – DNP
  • Bench – DNP
  • Athleticism Score/ CB rank – 75 (18th)
  • Total Combine Score/ CB rank – 72 (20th)

#4) Max Melton

Versatility is essential when the Packers are considering you in the draft. Max Melton can play in the slot or wide. At Rutgers, Melton played primarily at Wide Corner but did see some action at slot corner and sometimes in the box.  Possibly the most interesting thought is the possibility of Max being teammates with his brother Bo. After Bo’s standout closing stretch of football for Green Bay, the Packers might value him a little higher on their board.

Combine Results :

  • 40-Yard Dash – 4.39 Seconds
  • 10-Yard Split – 1.51 Seconds
  • Vertical – 40.5″
  • Broad Jump – 11’4″ (Best in CB group)
  • Three Cone – DNP
  • 20-Yard Shuttle – DNP
  • Bench – DNP
  • Athleticism Score/ CB rank – 88 (3rd)
  • Total Combine Score/ CB rank – 76 (8th)

#3) Jarrian Jones

I hope people don’t think I’m a Florida State fan with all the Seminoles I have written about this off-season, but it’s hard not to love them. Jarrian Jones is no exception. He had one of the best combines for cornerbacks this year. His final athleticism score was 87, which was good enough for fourth-best in class. Everything you read about Jones tells you he is a fierce competitor and works hard. Most teams would happily add a talented, coachable, and hard-working guy.

Combine Results :

  • 40-Yard Dash – 4.38 Seconds
  • 10-Yard Split – 1.53 Seconds
  • Vertical – 39.5″
  • Broad Jump – 10’9″
  • Three Cone – DNP
  • 20-Yard Shuttle – DNP
  • Bench – DNP
  • Athleticism Score/ CB rank – 87 (4th)
  • Total Combine Score/ CB rank – 74 (12th)

#2) Nate Wiggins

Nate Wiggins embodies the phrase, “You can’t teach speed.” He recorded a 4.28-second 40-yard dash time, the best in the 2024 cornerback draft class. The Packers would be happy if Nate Wiggins fell to them in the first round. They need the depth in the secondary and value guys who are fast at that position.

Combine Results :

  • 40-Yard Dash – 4.28 Seconds (Best in CB group)
  • 10-Yard Split – 1.59 Seconds
  • Vertical – 36″
  • Broad Jump – 10’7″
  • Three Cone – DNP
  • 20-Yard Shuttle – DNP
  • Bench – DNP
  • Athleticism Score/ CB rank – 82 (8th)
  • Total Combine Score/ CB rank – 83 (5th)

Honorable Mention

  • Decamerion Richardson – Second highest RAS score with 9.81. Third best 40 times (4.34).
  • Khyree Jackson – 9.7 RAS score. He had the third-best broad jump and was 11’1″.
  •  Nehemiah Prichett—9.41 RAS score. Fourth-best 40 times (4.36). Recorded the ninth-best athleticism score with 82.
  • Cam Hart – 9.12 RAS score. One of the most prominent corners in the class and performed well.

#1) Quinyon Mitchell

Coming out of the NFL combine as the number one-ranked prospect with a 90 overall grade is big. He was already going to be one of the first corners off the board, but now it feels more like a sure thing. He has all the traits you want in an NFL corner: big, fast, and physical. Pair that all with great tackling and ball skills, and you have yourself a first-round pick. The only question is, will he fall far enough for Green Bay to steal?

Combine Results :

  • 40-Yard Dash – 4.33 Seconds
  • 10-Yard Split – 1.51 Seconds
  • Vertical – 38″
  • Broad Jump – 10’2″
  • Three Cone – DNP
  • 20 Yard Shuttle – DNP
  • Bench – 20 Reps (Best in CB group)
  • Athleticism Score/ CB rank – 86 (6th)
  • Total Combine Score/ CB rank – 90 (1st)
