With just the Super Bowl left for this NFL season, it is nice to sit back and reminisce on the fun season. In the offseason and early on in the season, the Green Bay Packers were classed as rebuilding. Little did we know that they would figure it out much quicker than expected and make a solid playoff run.
Let’s look at the top five moments after the season is over.
Green Bay Packers Top Five Moments
Number Five: Jordan Love Leads the Packers to a Win vs. The Saints
Heading into the fourth quarter, the Packers had been shut out by the Saints. That was until Jordan Love led the Packers to three straight scoring drives. It started with the Carlson field goal. The Packers then got a stop, and Love scored on a read option at the one-yard line and preceded to complete the two-point conversion to Samouri Toure.
With 2:56 left in the game, Love completed a back-shoulder pass to Romeo Doubs to take the lead. This type of performance early in the season showed that Love has what it takes to win games.
Number Four: Jayden Reed Carries Defenders on His Back to Take a Three-Touchdown Lead vs. The Vikings
This touchdown had Donald Driver carrying 49ers players to endzone vibes. Jayden Reed proved that he could be a Swiss army knife. He ran the ball out of the backfield and played outside and the slot. His ability to create yards after the catch was pivotal in the Packer’s offense improvements.
Number Three: Jordan Love Threads the Needle to Jayden Reed vs. The Lions
This was the start of the heater by Jordan Love. He opened the game with a 53-yard completion to Christian Watson. Four plays later, he fit the football in a nonexistent window to silence the crowd at Ford Field.
Number Two: Jordan Love to Christian Watson vs. The Chiefs
Who knew the Kansas City Chiefs would be at the Super Bowl again with their start to the season? No doubt the Packers played one of their better games. With only a two-point lead, Jordan Love throws a dot to Wastson late in the third quarter as he rises up for the grab.
This moment is when many people realize that Jordan Love is “HIM.”
Number One: Darnell Savage Pick Six vs. The Cowboys
Maybe this pick has some recency bias, but the excitement and the stage in which it happened are hard to beat. The Packers were rolling in the game, and the pick-six blew the doors right off. Some Cowboys fans at AT&T Stadium headed for the doors after that play.
With the Packers’ defense struggling on and off all season, this play felt like a new life.
Final Thoughts
Though the season ended in typical Green Bay Packers fashion, it’s hard not to have enjoyed this season. Personally, it was one of my favorite seasons. The ups and downs showed how resilient this Packers team is.
Going back through different games of the season, there were many highlights and great memories. One takeaway from going back through the season is the Packers are full of playmakers. They may not have that “number one guy,” but they are loaded with guys who complement each other.
Next year will be a new season, with new guys due to the roster turnover in the NFL. Hopefully, the Packers can recapture their momentum at the end of the season.
