With week 1 of the NFL season behind us, let’s dive into how the Green Bay Packers stack up against the rest of the league. With only one week of stats to pull from, take everything with a grain of salt. It is hard to confidently say that week one can help us forecast the rest of the season, but it’s fun to imagine. Let’s jump into how the Packers stack up against the rest of the NFL.

Green Bay Packers Offense

Offensively, the Packers finished 11th in total offense, tallying 329 yards. Just one spot above the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. The Packers rushed for 92 yards on 32 attempts, averaging 2.9 yards per carry, the 7th worst average in the league in week 1.

The Packers finished with 245 yards through the air, which was 7th best behind Jared Goff and the Lions. Leading the way was Aaron Jones with two receptions for 86 yards. According to NFL Next Gen stats, Jones was clocked at 21.48 mph during his 35-yard TD catch. This was 2nd fastest in the league behind Tyreek Hill.

Overall, the Packers accumulated 15 first downs on 11 drives. They were rocking a 56.3 percent conversion rate on 3rd down, which ranked 3rd in the league behind the Chargers and Rams.

Green Bay Packers Defense

Defensively, the Packers allowed 311 total yards of offense, with 69 yards coming in the 4th quarter in garbage time. This Ranked 19th in the league for total yards allowed. The Packers also held the Bears to 23.1 percent conversion rate on 3rd down. That was the 7th worst conversion percentage in the league.

Led by Devonte Wyatt, the Packers also recorded four sacks, which was tied for 6th best in the league along with the Titans and Panthers. Wyatt ranked 13th in the league for the fastest sack. Sacking Justin Field in 3.5 seconds. The fastest sack measures the time that elapses from when the ball is snapped to when a defender sacks the quarterback.

Special Teams

Both Keisean Nixon and Jayden Reed did an outstanding job in the return game. Both Nixon and Reed finished in the top 5 in the return yards and average yards per return. The Packers also ranked in the top ten in gross average punt yards behind the boot of Daniel Whelan, the rookie out of UC Davis.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, with only one week of stats, the Packers stack up well against the rest of the league. Looking ahead to the Atlanta Falcons. The Packers should look to improve against the run. The Packers allowed the Bears to finish top 11 in yards and yards per carry.

The Falcons finished top 6 in week 1 in yards on the ground. The Falcons Totaled 130 total rushing yards on 26 attempts and two touchdowns. They were averaging 5 yards per carry behind Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier, 5th best in the NFL. With as efficient as the Falcons were in week one, expect them to support their 2nd-year quarterback with a run-heavy attack.
