Day one of the NFL draft is finally here. Today is the day every armchair NFL scout finds out if all their offseason hours staring at recycled Twitter clips and PFF grades will pay off. They have made predictions for the upcoming drafts. Some will hail themselves visionaries for predicting only a few landing spots correctly.

Others will bury their heads in the sand when they realize that all the hours they spent researching were a waste of time, just like their wives predicted. I’m probably part of the latter group. Nevertheless, we all come together for our shared love of the NFL and the possibility prospects will bring to the Green Bay Packers.

Position of Green Bay Packers First Drafted Player (Fanduel)

Outside of the potential of these prospects, they can put money directly in our pockets if fans can correctly predict the position of the first drafted player by Green Bay. This year, there are some very intriguing odds. Let’s get into the best bets for the Green Bay Packers on draft night.

Linebacker (+1600)

The odds seem too good to pass up. This year’s draft seems destined to be a bit chaotic. Every team will try to get their hands on one of the blue-chip offensive prospects. This could mean a lot of trades, which brings uncertainty for teams drafting toward the bottom, like the Green Bay Packers. Unless the Packers are interested in trading up themselves, they might not have an option. Both of those spots might result in the Packers drafting a Linebacker.

Green Bay needs a linebacker, and Gutekunst should have the pick of the litter in a poor draft in terms of defensive prospects—one more fun fact. In the six NFL drafts, Gutekunst has been in charge. He had taken a defensive player in the first round every year except in 2020 when he traded up for Jordan Love.

Defensive Lineman/Edge (+600)

If mocks hold any weight in the formula for predicting what the first draft round will look like. This season, mocks are screaming for the Packers to take a Defensive Lineman. Most experts don’t have a single defensive player being drafted inside the top ten. Some are saying there aren’t even ten total defensive players drafted in the first round. This only sets Gutekunst up to do what he does best: take the best player available at a premium position.

Offensive Lineman (-125)

Vegas must know something that the average fans don’t. The fact that an offensive lineman is the top odds for Green Bay tells me there might be some insider knowledge. It might also be a trap. Either way, this year’s draft is rich with offensive linemen. By the time Green Bay picks, there might be a guy that Gutekunst just can’t pass on. Green Bay does have a lot of draft picks stockpiled. Maybe they will use them to trade up for premium talent.
