The Green Bay Packers travel to Jerry’s World to take on the Dallas Cowboys. Both offenses have been red hot lately, and this game has all the makings for a high-scoring game.
Here are the staff predictions for the game.
PackersNotes Staff Prediction: Green Bay Packers vs. Dallas Cowboys
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson (9) catches a touchdown pass as Dallas Cowboys cornerback Anthony Brown (3) defends during the first half of the Packers’ 31-28 overtime win on Nov. 13, 2022 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
Jimmy Malchow (8-8): Cowboys Over Packers 38-31
This has been one of the more fun Packer seasons I can remember in recent memory. A young team that exceeded expectations and flipped the narrative. The rebuild was supposed to be in effect, and this would be a lost season. With all that being said, they head into Dallas in one of the more challenging matchups they could’ve ended up with.
The Dallas Cowboys can score. Dak Prescott and Ceedee Lamb have had an incredible year this year, and there are doubts that Jaire Alexander will be available. I believe the defense will show up and play hard, but I don’t think they’ll have enough to slow down this Cowboys offense.
Offensively, I think Jordan Love and the offense are in line for a big game. They’re red hot; Aaron Jones has rushed for 100 yards in three straight games. Love has nine touchdowns and zero interceptions in the last four games. For anyone who doesn’t believe in Love, he will put them on notice Sunday afternoon.
Not much punting happens in this game; the Packers fall short, though Love throws for three touchdowns. Cowboys 38, Packers 31.
Zach Weller (8-8): Packers Over Cowboys 23-20
I’m afraid I have to disagree with the media’s belief that if the Packers have any chance at winning, it needs to be in a shootout. This Packers defense has played well over their last two games and has the talent to make it one more.
Throughout the season, teams can change and adapt. Looking at the complete regular season stats is an easy way to write this Packers defense off. I believe the Packers have too much for the Cowboys to make this a blowout. Dallas will be able to move the ball, but if the Packers can clamp down in the Red Zone and maybe force a turnover or two, the game will be close.
I’ll take the Packers over the Cowboys 23-20. Anders Carlson will exorcise his regular-season demons and send the Packers to the next round.
