The Green Bay Packers will begin training camp in less than a month. That means the 2023 NFL season is just ahead of us. This is a year of change in Green Bay with the team getting younger and turning the quarterback reigns over to Jordan Love. There is a lot of buzz surrounding this team with most of the focus centering around Love as he takes over for Aaron Rodgers. But there are some players who are not getting as much attention as they perhaps should have and shouldn’t be overlooked.

Here are three Packers players who should not be overlooked as we head into the 2023 season:

Packers Player Who Shouldn’t Be Overlooked Number One: Edge Kingsley Enagbare

Kingsley Enagbare is entering his second NFL season. The former South Carolina star showed some flashes of pass rush ability late in the season after being thrust into the starting lineup after Rashan Gary was lost for the season with a knee injury.

Enagbare isn’t the focus of attention entering training camp with many focusing on Gary’s rehab and whether he’ll be back in time to start in Week 1.

Other members of the media are focused on first round pick Lukas Van Ness and his athletic ability.

But if Gary isn’t ready to start the season, it’s Enagbare who will most likely be the starter on the edge opposite Preston Smith. And even if Gary does recover in time to play in Week 1, Enagbare will likely play a large role in the edge rotation.

Player Number 2: WR Samori Toure

All the attention seems to be on Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and this year’s second round pick Jayden Reed. But Toure shouldn’t be overlooked.

The second-year man out of Nebraska had some strong showings at OTAs and got some attention from the media and from the coaching staff.

“He’s a guy we definitely have high hopes for,” LaFleur told reporters. “He has the things, the tools necessary, that you look for in terms of being able to separate. He has them in his body, he possesses those. It’s just continuing to get more and more reps.”

Toure put on almost 10 pounds of muscle in the offseason to help him win more contested balls and he showed more confidence during the offseason.

The coaching staff hopes Toure can improve on his rookie stats which included five catches for 82 yards and a touchdown in 11 games.

Player Number 3: TE Josiah Deguara

All the buzz this offseason is understandably surrounding day two draft picks Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft. But that doesn’t mean it’s OK to overlook Deguara.

Head coach Matt LaFleur likes to use multiple tight ends and it’s likely Deguara, who mostly plays H-back or fullback, will be on the field a lot even if Musgrave and Kraft see plenty of action as rookies.

The fact that Love won’t hesitate to use the middle of the field should help Deguara see more targets. The former University of Cincinnati star was also in Rodgers’ doghouse for some reason. He will get a clean slate and more opportunities with Love throwing the football.
