It might be time for the Green Bay Packers to consider a lineman near the top of the draft. With David Bakhtiari being released and Jon Runyan signing with the Giants, the Packers need to fill the gaps. In the past season, the Packers have relied on Yosh Nijman to fill the void when players have gone down, but it doesn’t appear the Packers will be bringing him back, either. So what should the Packers do? Look to the draft. The draft has several good options, and the combine will help shed light on which players the Packers might be interested in.

Five Offensive Lineman that Should be on the Green Bay Packers List

#5 ) Tanor Bortolini

If you think the reason Bortolini is on this list is hometown bias, you would be wrong. Tanor finished the combine with a RAS score of 9.78, the 33rd best among centers since 1987. He had the best test scores in almost every drill, along with that amazing statistic. I know it doesn’t happen often, but Green Bay could benefit from drafting a player from their home state college program. Tanor has all the tools to be the next Jason Kelce, all he has to do it put in the work.

Combine Results :

  • 40-Yard Dash – 4.94 Seconds (Tied 2nd fastest in O-line Group)
  • 10-Yard Split – 1.69 Seconds (Tied for 2nd fastest in O-line Group)
  • Vertical – 32.5″
  • Broad Jump – 9’4″
  • Three Cone – 7.16 Seconds (Fastest time in O-line Group by a full tenth of a second)
  • 20-Yard Shuttle – 4.28 Seconds (1st in O-line Group)
  • Bench – 21 Reps
  • Athleticism Score/ OL Rank – 99 (1st in Center Group)
  • Total Combine Score/ OL Rank – 79 (4th in Center Group)

#4) Frank Crum

As a child, I almost typed Viktor Krum when typing this article out of my love for the Harry Potter novels and movies. Frank Crum may not be a wizard, but his performance at the combine was as close to magic as you will get to see. Watching a 6’8″, 313-pound giant with an 82″ wing span to move like he did was fun.  Frank managed a RAS Score of 9.95, the 8th best among tackles since 1987. Undoubtedly, he has all the tools to be an elite NFL pass protector if he can add some weight and strength to his game.

Combine Results :

  • 40-Yard Dash – 4.94 Seconds (Tied 2nd fastest in O-line Group)
  • 10-Yard Split – 1.69 Seconds (Tied for 2nd fastest in O-line Group)
  • Vertical – 31.5″
  • Broad Jump – 9’6″
  • Three Cone – 7.39 Seconds
  • 20-Yard Shuttle – 4.73 Seconds
  • Bench – 22 Reps
  • Athleticism Score/ OL Rank – 87 (2nd in Tackle Group)
  • Total Combine Score/ OL Rank – 71 (20th in Tackle Group)

#3) Mason McCormick

He is big and athletic, and the Green Bay Packers need a guard. The loss of Jon Runyan leaves the Packers thin at the offensive guard position. I believe McCormick would fix all of the Packers’ guard issues. Mason has a RAS score of 9.96, which is 7th best among guards since 1987. On top of testing well, he was a three-year captain at South Dakota State, and you know Green Bay values their high character prospects. Mason McCormick fits the ticket.

Combine Results :

  • 40-Yard Dash – 5.08 Seconds
  • 10-Yard Split – 1.71 Seconds
  • Vertical – 35.5″
  • Broad Jump – 9’9″ (Tied for 1st in O-line Group)
  • Three Cone – 7.59 Seconds
  • 20-Yard Shuttle – 4.435 Seconds
  • Bench – DNP
  • Athleticism Score/ OL Rank – 93 (1st in Guard Group)
  • Total Combine Score/ OL Rank – 77 (4th in Guard Group)

#2) Amarius Mims

This pick is based purely on Mim’s being 6’8 and 340 pounds. You don’t see many players this size move this well. He managed a 9.53 RAS score, the 62nd-best among all tackles since 1987. He is also a Georgia product, and Packers fans know that Brian Gutekunst loves players from that particular program.

Combine Results :

  • 40-Yard Dash – 5.07 Seconds
  • 10-Yard Split – 1.78 Seconds
  • Vertical – 25.5″
  • Broad Jump – 9’3″
  • Three Cone – DNP
  • 20 Yard Shuttle – DNP
  • Bench – DNP
  • Athleticism Score/ OL Rank – 77 (18th Best in Tackle Group)
  • Total Combine Score/ OL Rank – 82 (8th Best in Tackle Group)

Honorable Mention

  • Joe Alt – He is being mocked in the top ten pretty consistently. Joe performed well in the combine and finished with a total score of 87, which is the best Offensive Tackle rank. He also scored a 9.92 RAS score, the 12th-best score in 37 years.
  • Jackson Powers-Johnson—He didn’t participate in enough of the combine to be among the “top” combine performers. However, he will be one of the top offensive linemen taken in this year’s draft and should be someone Green Bay keeps an eye on if he falls to 25.
  • Beaux Limmer—The big man from Arkansas was hard not to add to my list. He has the third-highest athleticism score among centers this year. He is also this year’s bench press champion with 39 reps. He earned a 9.8 RAS score, which was the 30th best since 1987.
  • Jacob Monk- Tied the fastest 10-yard split time in combine history in the offensive line group. (1.66 seconds)
  • Garrett Greenfield- Broke the Vertical Jump record for offensive lineman by an inch and a half. (38.50″)

#1) Taliese Fuaga

He gives me Penei Sewell vibes. He is around the same size and tested much better at the combine than Penei did. His RAS score of 9.71 is the 39th best among tackles since 1987. He may be slightly out of Green Bay’s reach at 25, but if the Packers get close, they have some extra draft capital to possibly trade up for a flexible player who should be a force at the next level.

Combine Results :

  • 40-Yard Dash – 5.13 Seconds
  • 10-Yard Split – 1.77 Seconds
  • Vertical – 32″
  • Broad Jump – 9’3″
  • Three Cone – DNP
  • 20 Yard Shuttle – DNP
  • Bench – DNP
  • Athleticism Score/ OL Rank – 81 (11th Best in Tackle Group)
  • Total Combine Score/ OL Rank – 83 (6th Best in Tackle Group)
